ABOUT US

"eLeSAy Speech Writers" is the pioneer of professional speech services in Guyana. We are a team of experienced writers and orators with a love for languages that we want to spread across our beloved homeland, where we are based, and beyond. Our target audience ranges from private individuals too shy to flirt with any language to businesses and politicians who are forced to court and aim to woo it. However, we get that unfortunately for many, this may prove to be a difficult feat for various reasons. Our mission is, therefore, to forge a happy union between our clients and our words. It is our hope that they would be able to discharge their diverse functions by delivering stellar speeches and by receiving prudent, relevant advice and training in public speaking.

Our Founder, Shakisa, is a Corporate Attorney-at-law by day, Writer by night. Trained in the island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and licensed to practice in and around the courts of Guyana, she first dabbled in private practice, attached to the chambers of a senior Attorney-at-law with a wide-reaching practice, spanning the criminal, civil, family and constitutional realms of the law. While a student at the Bishops' High school, she spent a lot of her free time privately writing poetry, short poems and a novel that she kept locked away in her closet, hoping one day it would amount to something. During the pursuit of her legal career, Shakisa entered into the world of journalism, doing bi-monthly, summer stints at a reputable news agency, that piqued her interest in writing. Her love for writing would soon become cemented in her strong foundation in the law, extending outside the courtroom to her personal blog titled “The Online Curia - from the Black Suit and beyond”. As a baby lawyer, she was oftentimes consulted to offer support in research, writing and vetting a range of speeches. This birthed the idea of "eLeSAy".

Lindiwi Benjamin is a passionate storyteller with an affinity for opportunities to elevate important voices. Born and raised in Guyana, Ms Benjamin moved to the United States as a teen where she dove right into carving a career path while simultaneously honing her craft. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science at the esteemed Hunter College in the City of New York, then took her passion for letters straight to the New York City Public School system where she served as an English and Social Studies teacher.

Ms Benjamin is currently an enthusiastic educator, working on her Masters in Education while completing her debut novel.

If you ever did meet a wordsmith her name would be Prudence Julien. A talker at just 7 months old and remaining voluble ever since she has got a serious way with her words. A lover of poetry, pooches, and public speaking, Prudence is a coalesce of many hobbyhorses.

If you asked her where it all started, she’d seldom pinpoint an exordium. It could have been that dictionary she just loved to read. Perhaps, those elocution, debate, and impromptu speaking competitions she ate like a famished child at the dinner table during her tutelage at the estimable Bishops’ High School. Or, her culminating studies at The University of Guyana which saw her successfully reading for a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies.

At any rate, where an Argus-eyed, Ogmios is needed to tie an entire speech together, Prudence is one to have on your team

PRUDENCE JULIEN
Proofreader/Speech Coach

From the tender age of about six, Femi has had a knack for words—intrigued by the adventure of discovering their use and meaning—but as she grew older, it was the love for quotes and writing that would steal her heart. From that prelude, it may come as no surprise that among her favourite books is "Stacked the Lexicon". Believe it or not though, reading itself has been an acquired passion. How ironic! But today, Femi literally reads to earn. But she has done other readings, too—like reading for degrees—in attaining her Bachelors of
History and Laws LL.B from the University of Guyana. Wrapped up in the years she spent at the country’s premier educational institution, Femi was also able to scratch a diploma in Communication off her academic to-do list. While not the only—together, these are the stepping stones which have formed the foundation on which she today stands as a Writer—and by extension have shaped the person she is today—Mother and Wife. But of all the writings she has done, the latter are the most important roles she has undertaken and has been given the privilege of assisting to script.
And for the love of not only her Husband and Daughter—but words and quotes—she endeavors to live by… “carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero,” while truly realizing that “contentment is not the fulfillment of what you want, but rather the realization of how much you already have.” To Gordon and Azara she lays claim, but the quotes are not hers.
